Lemongrass Essential Oil
Lemongrass essential oil is a versatile, beneficial oil often found in the recipes of soap makers and aromatherapists. This oil has a sweet, lemony scent that calms the mind and refreshes the body. It is often used to relieve jet lag and ease headaches. Lemongrass oil is employed to cleanse oily skin, combat acne and to tighten pores and reduce wrinkles. Oily Skin Facial Soap
- 6 oz palm oil
- 6 oz coconut oil
- 6 oz olive oil
- 3 oz jojoba oil
- 4 oz sweet almond oil
- 8.3 oz distilled water
- 3.4 oz lye
At trace:
- 1 oz wheat germ oil
- 1 oz lemongrass oil
- 1-tablespoon cedarwood essential oil
Mix lye into water and cool to 100 degrees. Heat carrier oils to 100 degrees. Pour lye/water mixture into oils. Bring to trace and add the wheat germ oil and essential oils. Pour into mold, cover and let sit undisturbed for 24 hours. Remove from mold and cure for 3 weeks.

Clear the Mind Soap
Ingredients:
- 7 ounces palm oil
- 7 ounces coconut oil
- 6 ounces canola oil
- 1-ounce jojoba oil
- 8 ounces distilled water
- 3 ounces lye
At trace:
- ½-ounce bergamot essential oil
- ½-ounce lemongrass essential oil
- ¼-ounce eucalyptus essential oil
Mix your lye into your water. Let cool to 100 degrees. Melt your palm oil and coconut oil. Add olive, and jojoba oils. Heat to 100 degrees. Mix lye/water into carrier oils and bring to trace. Add your blend of essential oils. Pour into molds. Cover and let sit until internal temperature of soap reaches 80 degrees. Unmold, cut and let cure for two weeks.
Island Dreams Soap
- 8 ounces palm kernel oil
- 8 ounces coconut oil
- 8 ounces shea butter
- 8 ounces hemp oil
- 4.7 ounces lye
- 12 ounces distilled water
At trace:
- 1-tablespoon lemongrass essential oil
- 1-tablespoon grapefruit pink essential oil
- 1 teaspoon lime essential oil
- 1 teaspoon blood orange essential oil
Mix lye into water and cool to 115 degrees. Melt shea butter and heat oils to 115 degrees. Add lye/water mixture to oils and bring to trace. Add your blend of essential oils and pour into molds. Cover and let set for 24 hours. Cut and cure in open air for 3 weeks. Makes 2 lbs of soap.
Tired Foot Soak
- 20 drops tea tree essential oil
- 20 drops lavender essential oil
- 16 drops lemongrass essential oil
- 16 drops thyme essential oil
- 12 drops geranium essential oil
- 12 drops peppermint essential oil
- 1 oz sesame oil
Place the essential oils in a tightly capped bottle, then add the sesame oil. Fill a foot bathe with very warm water. Add 1 teaspoon of the oil blend. Soak your feet for at least 15 minutes.
