Ginger Essential Oil
Ginger is an essential oil that can be used for many purposes. Soap makers and aromatherapists appreciate this oil for its many different therapeutic properties, which include antiseptic, antispasmodic, anti-emetic and several others. Ginger oil is often used to relieve nausea, even that which is brought on by morning sickness, sea sickness or motion sickness. Many people have treated arthritis, muscle cramps, fractures, bruises, colds, sinusitis and numerous other complaints with ginger. It aids in soothing hangovers and has been called an aphrodisiac. This essential oil also relieves poor blood circulation and stimulates the appetite. Spiced Carrot Soap
- 16 oz. Coconut oil
- 32 oz. Olive oil
- 16 oz. Carrot juice
- 6.84 oz. Lye
At trace:
- 1.2 oz avocado oil
- 1 oz ginger essential oil
- 1 oz orange essential oil
- ½ oz clove bud essential oil
Pour lye into carrot juice and stir gently until lye is dissolved. Cool to 110 degrees. Heat your coconut oil and olive oil to 110 degrees. Pour lye/juice mixture into warmed oils. Bring to trace and add avocado oil and essential oils. Pour into molds, cover and let sit for 24 hours. Remove from mold, cut and cure for 2-3 weeks.
Soap to Increase Circulation
- 10 oz palm oil
- 4 oz coconut oil
- 2 oz olive oil
- 2 oz lye
- 8oz water
At trace:
- 1-tbs. ginger essential oil
- 2 tsp. geranium essential oil
- 2 tsp. cypress essential oil
Pour lye into water. Cool to 115 degrees. Heat oils to 115 degrees. Pour lye/water mix into oils. Bring to trace. Add essential oils. Pour into mold, cover and let sit for 24 hours. Remove from mold and cure 3-4 weeks. Makes 1 pound of soap.
Marmalade Melt and Pour Soap
- 2lb 2oz suspending soap base
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp lime essential oil
- 2 tsp mandarin essential oil
- 2 tsp bitter orange essential oil
- 1 tsp ginger essential oil
- 2 tbsp grated citrus peel
- couple drops of yellow or orange soap color
Blend essential oils and set aside. Melt soap base in microwave or double boiler. Add coconut oil, stir until melted. Let cool slightly. Gently stir in citrus peel. Pour into molds, spritz with rubbing alcohol and let sit for 4 hours. Remove from mold.
Sore Muscle Massage Oil
- 20 drops ylang ylang essential oil
- 20 drops ginger essential oil
- 12 drops nutmeg essential oil
- 8 drops rosemary essential oil
- 2 oz sweet almond oil
Blend essential oils first, then add to the sweet almond oil. Warm slightly and massage into sore muscles.
