Carrotseed Essential Oil

When you see those fields of lacy white flowers, or weeds, as most people call Queen Anne's lace, did you know you are looking at the source for carrotseed oil? Carrotseed oil is extracted from the seeds of Queen Anne's Lace, often called wild carrot and a close cousin to the carrots we eat. Just like carrots, carrotseed oil is rich in Vitamin A and carotene. It is an excellent addition to your soap or aromatherapy blends because it revitalizes skin and increases elasticity. Carrotseed oil aides in removing toxins and water build so skin so appears fresher and firmer. Other therapeutic uses of carrotseed include using carrotseed oil as a detoxifying agent for the liver, muscles and digestive system and is helpful in the treatment of gout, edema, arthritis, eczema, bronchitis and several other complaints.

Carrotseed oil has an earthy, slightly sweet smell, dry and woody, with a touch of musk. It is a deep yellow oil with a medium note and is light in consistency. Carrotseed has sometimes been overlooked as an essential oil, but it is the secret known by the best skin care experts. Once you've tried carrotseed oil, you'll appreciate its qualities. Senior Skin Care Soap

  • 24 oz coconut oil
  • 8 oz flaxseed oil
  • 40 oz shea butter
  • 10.47 oz lye
  • 27 oz distilled water
  • 1 oz carrotseed essential oil
  • ½ oz geranium Egyptian essential oil
  • ½ oz frankincense essential oil

Blend your essential oils and set aside. Add your lye to your water and let cool to 100 degrees. Melt your coconut oil and shea butter, add your flaxseed oil and bring to 100 degrees. Add lye/water mixture to carrier oils and bring to trace. Add your blend of essential oils. Pour into molds, cover, and let sit undisturbed for 24 hours. Cure for 3 weeks.

Glazed Carrots Soap

  • 11 oz olive oil
  • 9 oz coconut oil
  • 6 oz palm oil
  • 1.5 oz castor oil
  • 3oz sunflower oil
  • 1.5 oz cocoa butter
  • 4.6 oz lye
  • 10 oz carrot juice (or you can use ½ carrot juice, ½ water)
  • 1 oz carrotseed essential oil
  • ½ oz lemon essential oil
  • ½ oz sweet orange essential oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of honey

Blend your essential oils and set aside. Mix lye into carrot juice. Cool to 105 degrees. Melt and bring carrier oils to 105 degrees. Pour lye/carrot juice into oils. Bring to light trace and add honey and blend of essential oils. Pour into molds. Cover only lightly, let sit undisturbed for 24 hours. Cure for 3 weeks. Makes 3 lbs of soap.

Creamed Carrots Soap

  • 2 lbs goats milk melt and pour soap base
  • 1 oz cocoa butter
  • 1-Tablespoon carrotseed essential oil
  • Orange soap dye

Melt your soap base along with the cocoa butter. Let cool slightly, then add in your carrotseed oil. Add the soap dye and pour into molds. Spritz with alcohol and let sit 4 hours to firm. Remove from molds and let air for several days before wrapping.

Dry Skin Relief Oil

  • 1 teaspoons jojoba oil
  • 1 teaspoon camellia oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 25 drops carrotseed oil
  • 6 drops sandalwood
  • 4 drops neroli
  • 2 drops geranium

Place all ingredients in small bottle and shake well to mix. Apply 4 to 6 drops to dry area twice a day.
